What is Family Class Sponsorship?

It is an immigration pathway that allows your relatives to live, study and work if you are a permanent resident in Canada. You can be a sponsor to certain relatives and bring them to Canada, provided you are at least 18 years old and:

  • • Person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
  • • Permanent resident of Canada
Requirements for becoming a Family class sponsor?

The requirements for becoming a Family Class sponsor are:

  • • You must be above 18 years of age
  • • You and the sponsored relative have to enter an agreement according to which you have to financially support the relative if need arises.
  • • You have to provide financial support for a spouse, common-law or conjugal partners for three years from the day they have become a permanent resident.
  • • 10 years – for a dependent child under 22 years of age or until age 25, whichever comes first.
